Interesting caregiver group

We say that ICDP is a tool for ALL caregivers. This group has not proven that wrong. Among the 9 participants, we had 4 grandparents who want to be good caregivers for their grandchildren and future grandchildren. 4 of the participants were fresh married couples, still not having their own children, but with the desire to become safe and sensitive parents. In the middle of these participants we had a young mother of a sweet babygirl, sharing both her experiences on how she is parenting now, but at the same time so curious and and open to grasp the concept of positive and sensitive caregiving. The community at and around LAMB is blessed to have these caregivers.

Facilitator Gathering - 2025

 We are delighted to share with you the highlights and outcomes of the ICDP Annual Facilitator Gathering, held on Thursday, 30th October 2025, at the BRAC Learning Centre, Dinajpur. A total of 97 participants joined this meaningful event, comprising 82 passionate facilitators and 15 esteemed guests. Throughout the day, facilitators shared heartfelt stories from the field — stories of transformation, perseverance, and human connection. Some spoke of the joys and triumphs they experienced while guiding caregivers and witnessing positive changes in families and communities. The atmosphere was alive with empathy and encouragement. The Facilitator gathering became more than just a meeting — it was a celebration of dedication, compassion, and the power of human connection that lies at the heart of ICDP.

ICDP Bangladesh Advisory Committee Meeting

ICDP -Bangladesh Advisory Committee Meeting is held on 26th October,2025 at Royal Park Residence Hotel, Banani. We are delighted to announce the formation of the ICDP-BAC, which now has ten dedicated members. This marks an important step forward in our ongoing efforts, and we look forward to the valuable contributions this group will bring. 

Ms. Sajeda Akter Boby, National Trainer of Trainers has been  elected as a Chairman of ICDP Bangladesh Advisory Committee with  unanimously for Two Years.

New caregivers trained at LAMB

Many staff from LAMB hospital met up with Dipaly and Karen for caregiver training, starting in August. New for this groups was the short training period. We are testing out a shorter model with only 7 sessions. 

Monday 22nd of September was graduation. Thanks to all the participants for being so active, open and inspiring both fascilitators

Training on Gender-based Violence

We are very glad that the Training on gender-based Violence is completed with 14 participants. It was held on 17th to 19th August and organised for the first time by the project. This training is mainly designed for the helpers who directly provide care, help and assistance to the survivors where there is no access of mental health care or counselling. For example those who are working as primary health care, emergency mental support, refugees camps etc.

Graduation of new fascilitators at LAMB hospital.

Today we are celebrating the graduation of the first batch of 2025 fascilitators graduating their fascilitator training, TOF at LAMB hospital!

Joining from MESH, BNELC and Baptist Mission.

We are glad to be sending them out to the villages and nearby districts to run caregiver groups for parents, teachers and community leaders!

More than 50 participants gathered at Koinonia 18th of Jun 2025. After inspiring sharing and refreshing of the 7 principles of sensitization, we managed to make a big choir and even sing in canon!

TOT Training of Trainers

Both Trainers and assistant Trainers are meeting up for a 2 days TOT. This is a time of reflection, repetition and equipping, both to continue training of new fascilitators in our partner organisations, but also for new trainers to be certified.

Field visit Chirakuta

ICDP lamb is running a new batch of fascilitators. Already 2 out of 3 workshops are finished. Most of the participants are young men and women from the lamb MESH project.  On May 21st Dipaly and Karen made a field visit to see how one of the new fascilitators is running his caregiver group in Chirakuta.

We have hired a new trainer

This February the ICDP team in Dhaka, welcomed hired a new Trainer. Roselima Rozario has a background in teaching. she was teachers´ assistant for 4 years. Later she was the headmistress for 11 years at a NGO-owned slum school in Dhaka. In 2022, she received her Facilitator training, and in November 2024 she was certified as a Trainer of ICDP. Roselima will be a Trainer of Facilitators in Dhaka. Welcome to the team!

ICDP training for students 

In addition to training in sewing and the Bible, the students of Marta Maria Bibel School will receive ICDP training. The training will be at caregiver level, and will be given by Facilitators Ms. Sojoni Mardi and Mr. Badol Baskey. This semesters´ students will be the 6th group of participants at Marta Maria Bibel School. This is one way ICDP helps prepare women for motherhood, as well as teach them about mental health and trauma.

ICDP Founder passes away 

The founder of ICDP, Professor Henning Rye, sadly passed away on 1st of February 2025. Together with Karsten Hundeide, Rye turned psychological theories into useful and meaningful practices that made remarkable difference to children's worlds. Through ICDP wisdom will continue to spread throughout the world.

Annual Facilitator´s Gathering 2024 & Certification Ceremony 

On 26th of November, ICDP Bangladesh hosted the Annual Facilitator´s Gathering i Dhaka. over 120 people was gathered for teaching activities and the Certification Ceremony of 8 new Trainers.

14 new Facilitators certified 

On the 19th of November 2024, the ICDP-team had the honor of certifyning 14 new Facilitators. This took place at at their third and final workshop, after they all excelled at their exams.

3rd to 5th of November, the second workshop was held for Facilitators in training. 20 people gathered at LAMB hospitals´ training center for groups discussions and training from our Trainers.

Monitoring through interviews

Each year staff from the HCDP-team visit dozens of villages in other to monitor the growth of ICDP in Bangladesh. They interview several facilitators, caregivers and children, chosen through randomized control. This is done to get an objective and generalized impression of how the program has effected the lives of the participants and their families.

Partnering with UNICEF and Bangladesh government

Through UNICEF the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MOWCA) has now become part of the ICDP work in Bangladesh.
